T-Ball
5-6yr
tball@oakforestbaseball.org
Tee-ball is a game for the 5-6 year old child. It is an introduction to the game of baseball for young children so they can enjoy this sport as well as develop baseball skills and sportsmanship at a pace they can understand. The Coach-pitch method is used in Tee-ball and is modified when necessary for a child by using the tee to ensure that all children learn the skills of the game. All children bat once per inning and outs are acknowledged. Games are approximately 1 - 1 ½ hours long. Tee-ball is an excellent start to team sports and provides introduction to basic ball handling skills and hand-eye coordination skills. The goal is to teach the child to value him/herself as an individual and to learn the importance of participation over winning.
Pinto
7-8yr
pinto@oakforestbaseball.org
The Pinto division is for boys and girls that are ages 7 and 8. The goal of the Pinto division is to make sure we teach each player the fundamentals of hitting, fielding, and throwing. We also feel this is a good age to teach good sportsmanship to the players. The Managers have the knowledge and instructional skills to achieve these goals. The players will excel in these areas.
Mustang
9-10yr
mustang@oakforestbaseball.org
The Mustang division is comprised of 9 and 10 year-old players. Additional aspects of the game are introduced to the players on this level. Some of those aspects include stealing, bunting, and understanding basic signs. Players will also be exposed to "live" pitching throughout the entire season. Of course, like all divisions, instructing the players with proper technique is the number one objective the Managers will strive for; not to mention having fun!
Bronco
11-12yr
bronco@oakforestbaseball.org
Bronco level is a big step for our young baseball players. In this level you will see a big change in our children's development; in this level players are starting to really understand how this game is played on their own. Managers should be teaching more complex attributes of the game (how to read sign's, fake bunting, stealing, position play on defense, ect). You will notice games are much quieter yet at times very intense with competition. But this competition level is part of the development in this level. So sit back and enjoy a different level of baseball.
Pony
13/14yr
pony@oakforestbaseball.org
The Pony Level is the last division before the players go to High School. The Pony level uses 80 foot bases and pitch from 54 feet. The players will be fine tuned in all the skills they have been taught from T-Ball through Bronco, with proper base running, fielding techniques, batting, and pitching.
